COMPETITION FORMAT AND SCORING
There will be minimum of 5 teams and maximum of 12 teams in each age group competition. The tournament will follow the format of a group stage, followed by a Play Off stage.
Group Stages
The initial stage of the competition will be held under a group or league system. The number of groups will depend on the final number of teams registered for the tournament. For example at 12 teams group, each team will play a minimum of 5 games during the group stage, and for 8 teams group, each team will play a minimum of 7 games during the tournament
Group matches: The system of play shall be a league system with each team playing one match against each other in the same group, with points to be awarded as follows: Win 3pts Draw 1pt Loss 0 pts
The rankings of the teams in each group shall be determined as follows:
- Greatest number of points obtained in all group matches
- Goal difference in all group matches
- Greatest number of goals scored in all group matches
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above criteria, then the head to head result between the two teams shall decide final league position. If the two teams remain equal, then a penalty kick competition will be held to decide the final league position.
Each team will take three penalty kicks. No player will be allowed to take more than one penalty kick. If teams are still equal after three penalty kicks then each team will continue to take penalty kicks until one team fails to score. No player will be allowed to take a second penalty kick until every other player in their team has taken a penalty kick.
Play Offs Stages
The exact format of the Play Offs stage will depend on the number of teams participating, but, in all cases, for 12 team age group there will be a Cup, Plate and Shield competition to play for, and for 8 teams age groups Cup and Shield, depending on where teams finish in the group phase and their results during the Play Offs phase.
Each team will play a minimum of 7 games during the Round robin and Play Offs stage of the tournament.
If scores are level at the end of each Play Off game, then a period of extra time with the 'golden goal' used to decide the winner, i.e. the first team to score will win the game. Games will be decided by a 3 v 3 . Play will continue in this format until a goal is scored and there is a winner. If there is no goal after 5 minutes then the referee will stop for a 1 minute water break before continuing for another 5 minutes. Substitutions can be made at this time. No substitutions can be made during each 5 minutes of playing time unless a player gets injured. Any three players from your squad can play in the 3 v 3 regardless of whether they were on the pitch at the end of the game. Only a player wearing a goalkeepers uniform will be considered a goalkeeper and able to use his hand in their own penalty box. Corner kicks, goal kicks and throw ins as normal, any starts or restarts will be from a drop ball from the center circle.
Trophies and medals will be awarded to the winners of the Cup, Plate and Shield in each of the four age groups.
Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams in the Cup, Shield and Plate.
Participation medals to all other players.
